How important is internal accreditation for MBA programs in Canada? |
|
For some people, international accreditation is important when choosing an MBA program. International accreditation of MBA programs, however, is simply an attempt to standardize the recognition of MBA degrees worldwide and thus suggests nothing about a program's curriculum, quality of education, or standing in the hierarchy of business education. Moreover, even though a program may not have official international accreditation does not mean that the said program is not recognized or respected around the world. Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, for example, does not have its MBA globally licensed yet it is one of the most prestigious and respected degrees in the world. Global accreditation is done by various bodies of which the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Association of MBAs (AMBA), and European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) being the most prominent. HEC Montreal is the only business school in Canada to be recognized by all three of the aforementioned bodies. Critera for Choosing a MBA School and Program |
